Horseback riding at Lake Achensee

Four horses live at the Wiesenhof – one docile Haflinger, a sturdy Quarter horse and two hardy and lively Criollos. The Criollos are recent arrivals to the Wiesenhof.  They have come directly from Argentina, and have been trained as polo ponies. Alexandra Entner offers competent horse riders the chance to ride into the nature reserve around the lake Achensee. so that guests can experience the scenic attractions on horseback.  On guided tours riders will enjoy a sense of freedom as they are carried through the countryside on demanding mountain trails. Alexandra Entner is also a Certified Horse Trekking Guide and therefore offers riding lessons for all age groups, especially for adult beginners. This is where the Wiesenhof has found a market niche: Adults may feel awkward in the presence of  adolescent learners, therefore Alexandra Entner offers exclusively one-to-one lessons on the Wiesenhof canopied riding ring. “With 11 x 11 meters the area is pretty small and gives a sense of security to beginners”, says Alexandra Entner.

The learning objective is to master the three basic gaits and ultimately independent riding.

Individually designed

There’s more to riding than just to sit on a horse. For beginners the training starts with taking up contact with the horse. In order to build up confidence between the horse and the rider, the horse will be guided by hand before mounting. For every learner the training will be individually customized. Theory and practice go hand in hand, and it’s also important to learn about the horse’s anatomy and the riding utensils. Alexandra will choose a horse whose size and temperament matches that of the individual learner. Riders of all ages will feel perfectly at home on the two Haflingers, the two Criollos and the Quarter Horse that are kept on the Wiesenhof grounds.
